Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026 · Operated by Axo Insights LLC

In short: the bills you track, the notes your team writes, your whip counts, and your contact logs belong to your organization and are never visible to any other organization on LexScope — not even to us, except as needed to operate the service or when you ask us for support. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

1. Who We Are

LexScope is operated by Axo Insights LLC ("Axo Insights," "we," "us," "our"), based in Virginia. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it's protected when you or your organization use LexScope.

2. Your Data Belongs to Your Organization — and Stays There

LexScope is used by many separate organizations on shared infrastructure, but every piece of data you create is scoped to your organization's account and enforced at the database level:

  • Tracked bills, watchlists, categories, and priority notes
  • Whip counts and legislator contact notes
  • Campaign records and activity logs
  • Team member accounts and roles within your organization

None of the above is ever visible to another organization using LexScope. This isolation is enforced at the database level, not just hidden by the interface, and is covered by our own automated tests to catch any regression before it ships.

3. Information We Collect

  • Account information: Email address, a password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) or a Google account link, and your organization name.
  • Billing information: If you subscribe, Stripe (our payment processor) collects and stores your card details directly — we never see or store full card numbers. We keep only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your account.
  • Usage data: The bills you track, alerts you configure, and notes or activity you create within your organization.
  • Basic site analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics on our marketing pages, which does not use cookies or track individuals across sites — it reports aggregate traffic patterns only (see Section 8).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

  • Provide the LexScope service to you and your organization
  • Send the notifications you've requested (email or in-app)
  • Process billing through Stripe and manage your subscription
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account, including via Google Sign-In if you choose to link it
  • Respond to support requests you send us

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.

5. Who We Share Data With

We use a small number of third-party services to run LexScope. Each only receives the specific data needed to do its job:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing (card details, billing email)
  • Google — only if you choose "Sign in with Google" (your Google account email, used to link or verify your account)
  • Cloudflare — hosting, security, email routing for our own support inbox, and aggregate site analytics
  • Our email delivery provider — sends transactional email (welcome, password reset, bill alerts) on our behalf

We do not share your data with any other third party, and none of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

6. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored in a database we operate, accessed only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text. Any per-organization SMTP credentials you configure are encrypted at rest. Password reset links expire after 1 hour, and rate limiting protects login, registration, and other sensitive endpoints from abuse.

7. Cookies and Sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Analytics

Our public marketing pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not track individual visitors, and does not collect personal data — it only reports aggregate metrics like page views and load times. The logged-in application itself is not tracked by any analytics tool.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your organization's account is active. If a team member is removed from an organization, their own login is deactivated but content they created (notes, activity logs) remains as part of your organization's record, matching how audit trails work in most team tools. If you'd like your organization's account and data deleted entirely, contact us at [email protected] and we'll process the request.

10. Your Rights

Regardless of where you're located, you can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Export your organization's tracked-bill data (also available directly from your account via CSV/Excel export)

Reach us at [email protected] for any of the above.

11. Legislative Data

Legislative information (bills, votes, legislators) is sourced from the Virginia Legislative Information System, a public government database. This data is public record and is not personal information.

12. Children's Privacy

LexScope is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected here.
